Frequently Asked Questions

What is HelpMeFind.org.uk?

This website is an initiative setup for those who wish to find, and those who wish to be found. When both parties come together a connection is made through our site.

We do not allow enquiries, or enter profiles from people under 16, or people seeking anyone under 16.

How Does it Work?

The site is made up of two areas. The first area is the HelpMeFind Registration. This is an application process for a variety of subjects, such as Adopted Children posting messages for Birth Parents and Vice Versa. When a Registration Form is filled out, it is checked by a human being (not a machine!) and added to the Display Portal with important details noticeable to anyone who may be seeking the owner of that Profile.

If the reader Clicks on the Profile they will be sent to a page dedicated to the Profile Owner, with further information on the subject of that Profile. If the reader suspects that the Profile is seeking them personally, or someone that they know, they can click on the link located in each Profile.

The form asks the reader to submit certain details to us so that we can validate them.

WE DO NOT POST PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION OR FULL NAMES IN THE DISPLAY PORTAL. WE DO NOT PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO ANY OTHER COMPANY OR PARTY.

It goes without saying that it would be very dangerous to allow anyone access to Personal Details on any individual. For this reason the Profile’s only contain general information, or details that are specific only to the target of the Profile. Therefore once an application is made, we must contact the Profile Owner for permission before giving the applicant any further information.

NO CONNECTION IS MADE DIRECTLY, IN THE FIRST INSTANCE, BETWEEN THE PROFILE OWNER AND THE READER OF THE PROFILE.

Once we have validated the Applicant with the Profile Owner, we can then arrange for the passing of contact information – in a secure and discreet manner.

I Completed a Form for a Profile, But it is Not Being Displayed.

Because your information is unique, and the Profile that results will be too, we have to vet all applications manually. We have received an amazing response to our site and applications take time to action. Please allow between 3 to 10 working days as a general guide, although Profiles may appear before that time.

How are Usernames Assigned and Why Has Mine Changed?

As from the 6th September, 2004, a new username process has been established. All registrants usernames will be a combination of their first name and the date they submitted details: i.e john/060904. If a second John fills out his details on the same day, his username will be john/0609042 and so on.

Those who submitted details before September 6th, 2004 will keep the same username that they were given when put on the Display Portal.

How Can I tell if Someone Has Applied for my Details?

If a viewer has responded to your Profile, we will attempt to make contact with you. You will receive notification from us in your profile 'Inbox'.

I’m Not Sure Whether or Not I am the Subject of a Profile on the Portal

Please be aware that the nature of human beings filling out the Application Forms, and further Human beings processing the results at our end will, on rare occasions, result in the wrong information being posted on a Portal, such as wrongly displayed Birth Dates etc… If you feel that the Profile may be targeting you, please be aware of this. Its better to apply and find out, than let a small detail stop you from applying.

My Profile is Displayed, but Details are Wrong

We try very hard to validate the information placed in the Display Portal, but at times Applicants will make errors keying in entries, and this may result in errors when Displayed on the Portal. If you find a mistake on your profile, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. I No Longer Require My Profile

Please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your username and password, explaining that you require removal of your profile. We will delete it as soon as we can.
