- I am nothing like my mother. I do not look or act like anyone in my family. I have travelled, been to College and Uni.
I have worked for several international companies and I have been married since 2002 and have a son who wants to be an engineer or work for Lego.
I do not want to disturb your life, I have never blamed you or been angry with you. I do have several health problems, which doctors have spent 10 years trying to explain as neither are on mum's side of the family.
For the sake of my son I want to know any family health problems on your side that I could share with his doctor. You can just give me a list and I will not bother you again.
I will say I understand that you were both younger than I was when I had my son and I know my mum would have made you feel guilty for her actions. She does that with everyone. Families by definition are difficult.
In 2015 I cut contact with her because I could not take her criticism and negativity any more. So, I do understand any fear you have in contacting me. I am terrified just writing this.
Mum would never ever speak of you and never told me anything - (Nan always said you were polite and nice) if I asked she would fake an epileptic seizure so I would stop.
I had to apply for a full birth certificate just to find out your name. In fact I did not know until I was 14 years old - even though I stuck out like a sore thumb in the family and everyone thought I would not notice. Mum always seemed ashamed of me as she wanted me to be meek and boring and not call attention to myself - and I am kinda not like that - I love books, I love loud music and talking and I like volunteering and jumping in and helping out.
I have always looked for a positive in everything. I have a dry to dark sense of humour and love the silly and funny and do not care what other people think of me.
You taught me one thing with your absence; that it was possible to get away from my mother. Thank you.
